Rock painting is a simple, relaxing craft that’s growing in popularity. It’s a fun craft for the family, an excuse to get outside, a stress reliever, and even a way to leave your mark on your community. Best of all: it’s incredibly easy to start. All you need is a clean rock of your choice and a few Sharpie markers. Once you’ve painted your masterpiece, there are so many ways you can show off your artistic genius.

Below are a few ways you can share your new hobby with the world:

Inspiring Keepsakes

If you have a friend who’s going through a hard time or could use uplifting reminders yourself, decorate rocks with some quotes that inspire you. They’d look great on your vanity for when you’re dressing in the morning, as a physical reminder to put in your pocket and take with you throughout your day, or as a small gift to give to someone special.

Front Walk Décor

Rocks make great outdoor decorations. They’re durable against the elements and completely customizable. You could paint multiple rocks with the same design to line your walkway or paint them all differently to create an eclectic curbside appeal.

Wedding centerpieces

Hand-painted rocks are beautiful, one-of-a-kind centerpieces for weddings that double as keepsakes for the guests to remember your special day. You could use them as placeholders with the guests’ names, paint the date or write the newlyweds’ names in calligraphy to commemorate the occasion.

Community Scavenger Hunt

A popular trend for rock painters is to involve their community in their art with community scavenger hunts. There are Facebook groups for parents and artists dedicated to painting, planting, and finding pieces around their town. If you can’t find one for your area, create one!

Rock painting is a simple, inexpensive way to flex your creative muscle and have fun doing it. There are so many ways that you can use it to make your mark on your home, your friends’ lives, and even your community.
