Honoring a Memory & Legacy

our life journey, we often encounter individuals who leave a permanent mark on our hearts. They become more than just colleagues; they become friends, confidants, and sources of inspiration. When such a cherished friend and coworker as Dennis passes away, finding a meaningful way to honor their memory becomes essential to the healing process.

Dennis’ son worked at the same manufacturing company as his father, and he still works there to this day. One beautiful way we chose to pay tribute to Dennis was by signing one of his work shirts using Sharpie metallic silver permanent marker to give to his son as a tribute to Dennis’ impact. It was a suggestion that immediately gained traction throughout the shop, and everyone couldn’t wait until it was their turn.

That silver Sharpie made its way from person to person, traveling from hand to hand across the factory floor as everyone attempted to put into writing what Dennis meant to them. He had been with the company for many years and all his coworkers were beside themselves to share memories, thoughts, and messages of love and support for his family.

In times of grief, it’s essential to have something tangible to hold onto, something that can serve as a reminder of the person we lost. The memorial company shirt is now a physical keepsake that allowed us, as his colleagues, to express our condolences and leave a lasting tribute to his family to hold on to. It gave us a sense of peace that the treasured memento can be kept and displayed by his family, reminding them of the love and respect their father, brother, and husband had within our workplace. After all, with a minimum of 40 hours a week spent together, our workplace is our second home, and our coworkers our second family.

It was an easy choice to use Sharpie markers for Dennis’ tribute. Their bold and permanent ink ensured that, like Dennis’ impact and his friends’ love for him, the heartfelt messages will endure through time.
